Sunday July 17th 2005

Well we made it to 4 years. It certainly is getting easier. We held Kate and Aiden's birthday party yesterday on their actual birthday. The day started with raging temperatures....Aiden's was 39.4 when he woke up. Kate had a blood nose.....it was all so much fun. Anyway the opening of presents sure helped ease the pain. The weather was awful, cold and raining and blowing a gale. Luckily it eased up later in the day.

We only have to have one birthday party a year. This is what I told myself as I handed over $70 for balloons. It was that or a clown and we all know clowns are creepy. The balloons were filled with helium and they floated in the lounge room. There were tears as two popped...... and Kate and Aiden were upset too (well the darn things cost $2.10 each). They got a special foil balloon as well - Aiden got Thomas the Tank Engine and Kate got a unicorn. The only other extravagance for the day was the hiring of some toys from the Toy Library (from which I am now retiring my membership because I can't stand the weekly stress of searching for the missing toy pieces....oh the guilt the guilt when I return things with parts missing).

The party went off without a hitch apart from the misery of the guests of honour. After $70 worth of balloons they were going to have their party and enjoy it too!!

A very sick little girl ready for the party to end

The kids were so sick by the end of the day, it was obvious that this was no ordinary winter cold. Kate slept for 18 hours last night and Aiden has been napping and lethargic all day.

 Poor little kids!

Initiation into Manhood:

In different cultures across the world young boys are initiated into manhood in many different ways. In our house it looks like this:

Did I mention that we lost the bunny? Did I mention that we went and replaced the bunny with his brother? Did I mention that we found the first bunny? Did I mention we now have 2 bunnies who will be heading off to the Vet for a quick snip?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST KIDS IN THE WORLD!
