MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Firstly, Aiden got his glasses and all has been well (except he tries very hard not to look through the bifocal bit)

Onto Christmas:

We had a joyous day, and really the reason you have children is to relive the wonderment of Christmas (that and the fact they can fetch things). This was the best year so far and was a frenzy of anticipation and Christmas spirit (and I promise that not once did I threaten that Santa was wasn't going to bring presents if they didn't behave.....well maybe just once or twice......).

We baked cookies for Santa. We are expecting orders to come rolling in for these delicacies .

We left them out for Santa (and you never saw 2 kids get into bed as quickly as these two because "Santa is watching and waiting".....why can't it be Christmas Eve every night?)

Then the truth came out about who is the real Santa.....

Santa left the kids a little note, thank goodness he knows how to use a word processor!

Then it was Christmas day.

Aiden was first up and he was very quick to spot an invasion

Kate was fast asleep so Daddy went in to wake her. She was fast asleep until she heard Daddy say, "Kate, it's..." and she was out of bed and into the lounge room so fast she didn't have time to wake up.

OMG Santa can write!

They then had a present unwrapping frenzy.        .

Forget about anything else people because Kate got a PUPPY SURPRISE!! This is a dog who is pregnant and you don't know how many puppies she may have (add this to the cat and the 2 feral rabbits and this will just be a household of fun! We are off on a holiday and we are hoping that if we don't feed the cat it will eat the rabbits and 2 of our problems will be resolved. But I digress....) Our lounge room quickly turned into labour and delivery ward.

We think her waters have broken. Kate's timing the contractions

It's going to have to be a c-section.

So far we have twins.....

TRIPLETS! The mother dog has fainted with shock.

Aiden's ultimate present was a Buzz Lightyear Spaceship

The rest of the morning was all about unwrapping and this was the result of the Christmas carnage

The kids spent time playing. Here's Professor Aiden playing with his robot that obviously is on acid by the freaked about way it bounces around when you wind it up.

We then headed to Nana and Pops for more Christmas cheer.

We hope your day was as much fun as ours :-)

Today I am going to the funeral of a 6 year old girl from my class. She died from cancer after being diagnosed 7 months ago and enduring 5 rounds of heavy duty chemo. Aiden is getting glasses (bifocals) and I am welcoming the news. If that is all we have to endure then I am truly thankful. The news of the death of my student has rocked the community and it causes us to pause and realise just how lucky we are to have healthy children. I feel doubly blessed not just because I have twins but because of the wonderful relationship they share together. They will always have each other and seeing how they interact and how important they are to each other is a true blessing. Their best friend is always there.

We have had many more funny conversations in this house. The current obsession is with Toy Story. When something goes wrong a tearful voice calls out: "This is an intergalactic emergency"

Our house is cluttered with toys and in a bid to instill good values with a side benefit of less clutter we sorted toys that would go to the charity shop. Kate survived the trauma (just). We then had an activity where they cut out toys from a toy catalogue to show what they wanted for Christmas. Kate chose every Hello Kitty merchandise advertised. Our conversation went something like this:

M: Kate what do you want for Christmas?
K: Oh I would just love to have this Hello Kitty bed spread, Hello Kitty radio, Hello Kitty cushion, Hello Kitty alarm clock....
M: Kate you can't have all of those things. Choose just one.
K: Ooooohhhhhhhh nooooooooooo.....but I can't aside (decide). I want them ALL.
M: But Kate some poor children have no toys and presents
K: But I already gave them some.

I was a bit worried that Aiden wanted a bikini for Christmas. This was until I turned it over and saw Bob the Builder on the back.

On another day Kate was crying about something and she didn't listen to Nanny. I asked Kate to say sorry to Nanny and in between hiccupping and crying she said: "But my mouth won't let me say sorry, it just wants to cry!"

We had their first concert at Kindy. I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately they sat the children down on the floor and had the adults sit on chairs in a long skinny room. This meant we saw nothing of the concert. We would have been better just buying the sound track.
